Volunteers participating in the blind walk

Blind Walk 2019

At Madura, our endeavor is to enrich and develop our member communities through CSR initiatives. We do this through health camps, blood donation camps, tree plantings and eye donation awareness activities. As part of spreading awareness on eye donation, Madura has been participating in the World Blind Walk on World Sight Day for the last 4 years. ‘World Blind Walk’, a global program to give sight to the blind, is organized on World Sight Day which is the 2nd Thursday of October every year by The Project Vision. On the World Sight Day this year, Blind Walk was organized in 147 locations across Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Odisha and Bihar. 4250 of our employees, members and community volunteers participated in the walk and pledged to donate their eyes. All regional teams extended tremendous support to make this event a huge success.

Green Office Week

The first ever set of environmental awareness and education activities for our employees were organized as part of Green Office Week from 17th to 22nd September. This green initiative was aimed at creating awareness and sharing actionable tips to impart a sense of responsibility in our employees towards our environment. This was done through a series of educational emails in vernacular languages on the environmental impact of exploitation of resources such as paper, water and plastics and simple actionable tips for conservation and judicious use of these resources. As part of the tree planting drive, our staff and members enthusiastically planted 996 saplings across various locations in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Our teams across all the regions also participated in an online Fun Quiz on environment conservation and competed for the winning spots.
